VAR shambles keeps Liverpool in top-four race as three incidents are ignored in 4-3 win vs Spurs

I’m losing count of how many times VAR or awful officiating bailed out Liverpool this season – the latest being in yesterday’s dramatic 4-3 win over Spurs.

We all know about Alexander Isak’s ‘offside’ at Anfield and their 97th minute winner way beyond the allotted time that night, but they’ve been getting away with it week in, week out recently.

Alexander-Arnold’s handball in the build up to a goal at Leeds wasn’t given – I’ll never understand how when you consider Wilson’s at Brentford – and they somehow dodged a clear penalty that could’ve drawn West Ham level at the death last week.

In yesterday’s must-win clash with Spurs, they got away with it again. First, Diogo Jota should’ve seen red for a dangerously high-foot that left Oliver Skipp pouring with blood and unable to continue. It was checked (allegedly) but they stuck with a yellow card. Guess who went on to score a 94th minute winner? Diogo Jota.

Before that, Spurs were denied a stonewall penalty. Ibrahima Konate hauled down Richarlison in the box, making no attempt to play the ball, yet VAR turned a blind eye. The Frenchman had already been booked, so this was two lucky escapes.

Jurgen Klopp then rounded off proceedings by screaming in the fourth officials face after Liverpool’s last gasp winner. Once again, only a yellow card, no red. There’s a theme developing here.

It shouldn’t matter – we remain NINE clear of the Reds with five games remaining and betting sites and casinos with siru talletus in pole position to seal a top-four finish. However, it’s becoming worryingly obvious how much the ‘big six’ clubs – especially Liverpool and Man Utd – are protected by VAR.

  1. Coming from a supporter of a team that spends nearly an entire half of football wasting time every single game.
The hypocrisy of newcastle united fans is massive….

  3. So we’re time wasters. Wonder where we’re getting the time to destroy teams like Spurs and Everton.

  4. Who actually cares, not sure why you’re getting your knickers in a twist over poor officiating, many teams have benefited from poor var decisions, we did a few weeks back when Pope hauled down someone in the box and got off completely, if we had lost him for another 3 games would we have picked up same number of points in that spell

If we don’t make Champions League from where we are just now then we won’t have deserved to, nothing to do with var, it’s in our hands and we should get over the line.
