Double sacking imminent and Toon flop set to step in ahead of crucial Newcastle clash

It looks like there’ll be big changes at Leeds between now and our trip to Elland Road next Saturday.

The Whites have just announced that Sporting Director Victor Orta has left his role at the club and it seems head coach Javi Gracia is also set for the sack.

Widespread reports on Tuesday morning claim it’s now a matter of time until the Spaniard is given his marching orders, with former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce all set to step in.

Big Sam has been out of football since he walked out on West Brom in May 2021. It’s not ideal for Newcastle, as Leeds looked down and out after several heavy home defeats and a 4-1 battering at Bournemouth on Sunday. However, it’s worth remembering that Allardyce’s last spell in Premier League management was pretty atrocious.

During his stint at West Brom during the 2020/21 season, he won just four of his 26 games in charge. He might just toughen up a defence that’s currently leaking goals for fun, but this feels like a desperate move with four games to go and one last throw of the dice.

A new manager bounce? Maybe, but I can’t see Allardyce getting the better of Eddie Howe’s high-flying Mags!
