Sky Sports: Newcastle spotted watching two RB Leipzig stars – €40m man of particular interest

Some interesting claims have emerged from Sky Sports in Germany in the last few moments, as they’ve revealed TWO RB Leipzig stars on Newcastle United’s radar.

It’s believed Toon scouts have travelled to watch Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara on ‘several’ occasions recently, with the most recent visit coming in Leipzig’s 2-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen last month.

Sky Germany claim Szoboszlai is the player we’ve been showing the most interest in, but it’s intriguing to see Haidara’s name crop up again after The Chronicle tipped us to make a move for the Mali international just a few weeks ago.

It’s easy to see why Szoboszlai could appeal to Eddie Howe and the club’s recruitment team. The €40m-rated Hungarian captains his country at the age of 22, can play down either flank or as an attacking midfielder and has bagged seven goals and 13 assists so far this season.

He also has experience on the Champions League stage, weighing in with five goals and two assists in 18 appearances in the competition over the past three years.

Here’s what Sky Germany’s Philipp Hinze has had to say on our interest in both Bundesliga stars:

Dominik #Szoboszlai and Amadou #Haidara have recently been scouted live by Newcastle United several times. Both at home and away games. Most recently in Leverkusen. But the Magpies are more interested in Szoboszlai. #RBL#RBLeipzig @SkySportDE
