Brighton ‘set to sign’ former Mag and announce club-record move for Toon target

12 months after he almost signed at St James’ Park, former Toon target Joao Pedro has completed a club-record move to Brighton.

The move was made official on Friday night and it seems he’ll be joined on the South Coast by former Newcastle United midfielder James Milner.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the 37-year-old will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and sign a one-year deal at the Amex, joining as a free transfer.

Milner will bring a wealth of experience to Brighton, racking up over 600 Premier League appearances, while Joao Pedro could be the latest gem to join the Seagulls.

The Brazilian has bagged 11 goals and four assists in a struggling Watford side this season, with some describing the versatile 21-year-old as the best player in the Championship.

It looked like we’d signed the South American last summer, so he may be one we live to regret – not that we can have too many complaints after ending up with Alexander Isak!
