Newcastle scouts spotted watching defender in Champions League semi-final – Report

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle United had a representative at the San Siro last night to watch AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori in their Champions League semi-final first leg.

This comes from FCInterNews, who claim that a club scout was spotted in the stands to take a closer look at the former Chelsea talent, with Man Utd officials also present to watch Inter’s Andre Onana.

It seems this isn’t the first time we’ve watched Tomori, as 90min revealed that we sent someone to watch the centre-back in AC Milan’s 1-1 draw with Roma last month.

Unfortunately for Tomori and the Toon scout in attendance, it was a night to forget for the England defender, who was run ragged by Lautaro Martinez. Inter scored an early double and went on to win the first leg 2-0, giving AC a mountain to climb ahead of next week’s reverse fixture.

A poor performance from the 25-year-old, but he may tick plenty boxes for Eddie Howe. He’s quick, is two-footed, has experience at Premier League and Champions League level and may fancy a return to England; which could boost his international hopes after an impressive few seasons in Italy.
