Howe tells press 5 could miss Leicester clash in Friday morning update on multiple injuries

Speaking to the press this morning, Eddie Howe has offered an injury update following last night’s brilliant win over Brighton; which may have come at a cost!

It looks like Joe Willock’s season may be over, as Howe fears the former Arsenal man has suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out of our final two games.

Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy ‘haven’t trained’ and are early doubts for Monday’s clash with Leicester, while Joelinton is also facing assessment after the Brazilian forced off with a knock.

Fresh quotes are yet to emerge on Kieran Trippier’s situation, but Howe did say he was another injury ‘concern’ late last night, having been replaced by Javier Manquillo in the closing stages of our 4-1 win.

This means we could be without three of our four midfield options when the Foxes come to town next week, meaning the likes of Elliot Anderson may be needed to see us over the line in our bid to secure a top-four finish. Saying that, Howe’s comments give me some hope that Joelinton could be OK.

Here’s what Howe had to say on all of the above, starting with a worrying update on Joe WIllock:

“Today I’ll be straight to the physio room after this to see how everyone is. We’ve got a few concerns. The lads gave so much yesterday and have given a lot to the season. I just hope there’s no serious effects.

“It looks like Joe Willock may be in trouble. We may lose him until the end of the season but that’s unclear as I sit here now.”

Howe on Sean Longstaff:

“At this moment, being honest, it’s doubtful. He hasn’t trained. He’s improving, but we’ll wait and see.”

Howe on Joelinton:

“Joelinton is a machine. He will run through a brick wall for us. He succumb to that last night it hurt him, but hopefully he will be OK.

It is a concern. Today will tell me more. Injuries can appear worse at that moment.”

Howe on Jacob Murphy:

“Again, he hasn’t trained. We’ll wait and see.”
