Newcastle agree second summer signing as club strike deal for £200,000 teenager – Report

Newcastle have had a bid accepted for 14-year-old wonderkid Michael Mills from Port Vale just days after a £6m deal was agreed for teenager Yankuba Minteh.

This is according to Football Insider, who report that Mills ‘caught the eye’ of our scouts while he was playing for Vale’s Under-15s and was handed a trial at Newcastle as a result.

Since then, he’s impressed during a spell at our Little Benton base and will now join our ever-improving academy after the club had a bid worth £200,000 accepted by the League One side.

This is the second young talent we’ve struck a deal to sign this month, as Odense attacker Yankuba Minteh is expected for a medical on Tyneside in the coming days; providing there’s no problem with the Gambian’s work permit.

Mills will be one for the future and is still a few years away from our U21 ranks, but it’s great to see us investing in youth and a department of the club that was neglected for a decade under Mike Ashley.
