Sky Sports: Newcastle enter talks with another key player as club line up contract extension

According to Sky Sports in Germany, Newcastle United have entered talks with Joelinton over a new contract.

His current deal expires in 2025, but talks are now at an ‘early stage’ to keep the 26-year-old at St James’ Park for several years to come following another superb season and his first call-up to the Brazilian national team.

With recent reports suggesting Bruno Guimaraes is in discussions over a new and improved contract to reward his superb displays, it’s great to hear Joelinton may also extend his stay on Tyneside.

The versatility of our number seven has been key for us this season, with the £40m-man playing as a deep-lying No 6, driving No 8 or all-action left winger over the 2022/23 season.

Wherever he plays, he never lets us down, showing what a well-rounded and consistent player he’s become since Eddie Howe transformed him from a misfiring and under confident striker to an all-action midfielder who runs through bricks walls for the team every single week.

Since Howe’s arrival, Joelinton has been the perfect example of just how much the club has been transformed in the last 18 months. Just like the Brazil call-up, a contract extension would be fully deserved and welcomed by supporters.
