Club plan to hijack permanent deal for Newcastle United loanee – Report

Alan Nixon at The Sun is reporting that Middlesbrough plan to hijack Hull City’s proposed move for Karl Darlow; who impressed during a six-month loan spell with the Tigers.

With the Magpies looking to keep one of Martin Dubravka or Loris Karius as a backup, Darlow will not want to play third string and will likely find a new club this summer.

The 32-year-old shone during his loan spell in the Championship over the second half of the 2022/23 season, earning himself Hull’s player of the month for March. It’s no surprise they are hoping to make the move permanent.

However, Middlesbrough have now entered the race for the shot-stopper as Michael Carrick searches for his new number one with their loan deal for Man City’s Zack Steffen now over.

Boro were keen on the former Nottingham Forrest man prior to signing Steffen last summer and look to have reignited their interest with hopes of beating Hull to his signature.
