Newcastle ‘seriously considering’ French talent if £15m bid falls flat – Report

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are ‘seriously considering’ Nice star Khephren Thuram – despite preparing a £15m bid for Wolfsburg’s Felix Nmecha.

Luke Edwards revealed last night that we’re preparing an opening offer for Nmecha, but Thuram, who would cost ‘closer to £30m’, remains high on our list of midfield alternatives.

In a Twitter post last night, the North-East reporter suggested we are ‘still weighing up’ a move for the Frenchman following his standout season in Ligue 1. He could be more costly than the Bundesliga talent, but remains one to watch, it seems.

The 22-year-old Nice midfielder, who broke into the French National team this season, has also attracted interest from Liverpool and could take more convincing to come to Tyneside.

Scott McTominay is another name that keeps appearing in these conversations – see Edwards’ post below – and ‘remains of interest’ as Eddie Howe continues his bid to bolster our engine room this summer.
