Agent rubbishes Tonali rumour & speaks out on “perfect” Newcastle project from Milan airport

Sandro Tonali’s agent – Beppe Riso – has been speaking about the midfielder’s imminent move to Tyneside, describing Newcastle as the “perfect project” for his client.

After returning to Milan from Romania on Friday night, Riso was stopped outside the airport by Sky Italy reporters and asked about rumours that the 23-year-old was reluctant to leave AC Milan.

Italian outlet La Republica reported earlier today that Tonali ‘broke down in tears’ after his boyhood club accepted our offer and pushed for a sale for financial reasons. However, Riso has rubbished these claims, insisting there was “no tears.” Instead, the player is “very calm”, excited by the huge project on offer and focused on Italy’s next game in the U21 European Championships.

Riso confirms that it’s an “excellent deal” and one that should go through in the coming days now Tonali has agreed a “six-year” deal at St James’ Park.

Speaking to the Italian press, here’s what he’s had to say:

“We agreed all terms for Tonali with Newcastle and the two clubs are finalising the deal. The contract with Newcastle will be valid for the next six years.

“Mission accomplished? Not yet, there are still a few days left, a little more. He will undergo medical examinations in the next few hours.

“This is an excellent deal, Newcastle is the perfect project for Tonali. Newcastle wanted Sandro as a key signing at all costs.

“He will be a crucial player for Magpies. This deal also helps AC Milan and Brescia’s finances a lot. It’s difficult to reject huge bid for the club and the player.

“Is the boy happy? He’s calm, calm because he knows that when such important things arrive from such important properties it’s difficult to refuse. We have an agreement, now the clubs are finalising it.

“The boy is very calm, serene. No tears. He thinks about the national team and plans to go ahead with the national team.”
