Two defenders have been linked with potential moves to St James’ Park today, while Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that AC Milan have a 10% sell-on clause included in a £60m deal for Sandro Tonali.
The first link features Feyenoord’s David Hancko. According to Foot Mercato, Newcastle have contacted the Eredivisie champions to sound out the Slovakian’s availability.
Hancko is a versatile defender able to play at centre-back or left-back. If we’re looking to recruit someone able to play a similar role to the defensive-minded Dan Burn, a move for the 25-year-old – who stands 6ft 2′ – could make sense.
Then comes Edmond Tapsoba, the Bayer Leverkusen centre-back who has been mentioned as an option under consideration by 90min today.
They report that Spurs have held talks over a move for the 24-year-old, but are wary of rival interest from Newcastle; who’ve been ‘informed’ about his availability as he eyes a summer move to England. Tapsoba stands 6ft 4′ and ticks plenty boxes as a young, athletic, right-sided centre-bac who could compliment Sven Botman well.
Last but not least, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that AC Milan’s sell-on clause will give them 10% of any future sale, insisting the Italian’s move to Newcastle is ‘done and sealed’, despite no official announcement arriving from the club.
