Newcastle United have announced that we will be hosting a four-club tournament labelled the Sela Cup which will feature Fiorentina, Nice and Villarreal alongside the Magpies.
The fixtures will be played on the 5th and 6th of August with Newcastle playing Fiorentina on the Saturday at 3:30pm before battling against Villarreal on the Sunday at 4pm.
It has also been announced that NUFC Women will face West Brom Women on the Saturday at a later kick-off time of 6:00pm as both sides prepare for the new season.
The tournament, which will be presented by VisitMalta, will give Toon supporters a small taste of European football before we enter the Champions League for the first time in two decades.
Club CEO Darren Eales has praised the tournament and claimed that attracting ‘elite’ teams to a pre-season cup shows our ‘ambition’ and ‘growth’ as a club.
