Tonali starts but Saint-Maximin and Joelinton miss out – Official Newcastle team vs Rangers

The team news is in from Ibrox, where Newcastle Unite take on Rangers in our second pre-season game of the summer.

Here’s the side that will start in front of 8,000 Geordies in tonight’s 7.45pm kick-off:

STARTING XI: (4-3-3): Karius – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Targett – Longstaff, Tonali, Anderson – Almiron, Wilson, Lewis.

SUBS: Darlow, Gillespie, Dummett, Gordon, Isak, Manquillo, Ashby, Burn, Guimaraes, White, Turner-Cooke, A.Murphy, Parkinson, L.Miley.

Sandro Tonali starts for the very first time since sealing a £52m move from AC Milan, with Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron, Fabian Schar and Sven Botman also returning to the XI.

Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon are on the bench, but Allan Saint-Maximin misses out after ongoing interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Joelinton is also absent, as he’s having trouble obtaining a US visa. He hasn’t travelled to Glasgow with the rest of the squad and could fly out to America separately.
