Player set to leave USA camp and seal Newcastle exit if transfer talks progress today – Reports

According to reports, Karl Darlow will leave our USA tour and seal a move to Bournemouth if talks with the Cherries progress today.

As revealed by The Mail’s Craig Hope and Scott Wilson at the Northern Echo, Bournemouth are ‘closing in’ on a deal for the goalkeeper; who will be given permission to leave the States and seal a move to the South Coast if a deal can be agreed today.

It’s thought Newcastle are demanding around £5m for the 32-year-old. That fee proved too much for Middlesbrough and Hull City, leaving Premier League side Bournemouth in pole position to beat Leeds United to a deal.

Darlow was named in our 34-man squad for upcoming Summer Series games and featured in pre-season clashes with Gateshead and Rangers. However, with Pope, Dubravka, Karius and Gillespie also in the States, our goalkeeping is pretty stacked and in need of at least one outgoing to raise funds and create space in the squad.

Loris Karius was not named in our squad, despite being pictured with the group in Atlanta, but we can expect him to replace Darlow if the shot-stopper does leave for Bournemouth.
