According to Sky Sports, Karl Darlow is set to leave Newcastle and join Leeds for around £400,000 despite rumours that the fee was in the millions.
Eddie Howe confirmed the move was close last night after our 1-1 draw against Chelsea, with Jamal Lewis and Harrison Ashby also expected to leave on loan in the coming days.
The shot-stopper will travel back to the U.K. tomorrow to undergo a medical before the signing is confirmed and the club can announce their new keeper.
It was hoped that Darlow could bring in a little bit of cash to add to the the transfer budget, but the main aim was to free up space in wages for other signings.
With one goalkeeper already on his way out, it’s hoped that we can also find a new club for Martin Dubravka as we still have four first-team keepers on our books, with Loris Karius expected to play backup to Pope.
No complaining about inflated transfers with this one by the moaners.
I can only remember once where we got too much for a player and that was £30 million for Ayozey Perez to Leicester, we usually don’t get enough.
