Medical booked for Monday as BBC journalist hints at another Newcastle exit

Harrison Ashby is expected to undergo a medical at Swansea tomorrow after manager Michael Duff told BBC Wales’ Simon Davies that three deals are booked in for Monday.

Although Howe denied the rumours that a loan deal was close to being confirmed, it looked inevitable for the defender to join the Championship side. Now that the US tour has finished, it seems the move has accelerated, with him expected in Swansea on our return to the UK.

Ashby scores at Rangers and impressed in our final Summer Series game against Brighton. Should the move go through, hopefully he can take that confidence into the new season.

This will be his first opportunity to play regular first-team football and show Howe why he is the perfect candidate to eventually replace Kieran Trippier.

With Emil Krafth injured and Javier Manquillo expected to leave, letting Ashby go could mean that a deal for Tino Livramento is moving in a positive direction, but it remains to be seen if we are willing to match Southampton’s £40m valuation.

This would complete a flurry of outgoings on Tyneside, with Saint-Maximin leaving for Saudi, Darlow joining Leeds, Watford landing Lewis on loan, Watts signing for Wigan and Kuol edging closer to an Eredivisie loan.
