Darren Eales issues new transfer message to Newcastle fans via Sky Sports News

Speaking to Sky Sports, Darren Eales insists Newcastle remain “open for business” if the “right deal” comes along, revealing that the club are “working furiously” to support Eddie Howe and the team.

The Magpies have already confirmed three first-team signings this summer – Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento – but are still in the market for more.

Supporters will be encouraged that the club are working hard behind the scenes to try and “keep up” with what was such a successful but unexpected season last year, especially when many believe a right-sided centre-back and left-back are still needed.

Eales also reminded fans that we can be “creative” in the market and “always opportunistic”, suggesting we are still looking for ways around FFP in a bid to strengthen the first-team squad.

Here’s what he told Sky’s North-East reporter, Keith Downie, when asked if we’re still open for business:

“We can be creative, and will always be opportunistic — if the right deal comes up at the right price we will always be open for business. I understand that’s what fans want to know.

“Hats off to Eddie and the football team for jumping into 4th place spot — we are now working furiously in the background to keep up with them! He’s not making it easy for us, but it’s healthy competition — and that’s exactly what we want.”

After years of neglect and no communication, it’s certainly a breath of fresh air to hear those at the top explain our future plans and speak in such a positive manner.

  1. I’m relieved to have found this helpful resource. The preceding piece in particular has taught me a great deal about the world and its workings.

  2. Great he is backing us, but I don’t think anyone is available now or would consider a move to Newcastle… Despite all the hype and wealth…
