Journalist claims Newcastle are ‘exploring deal’ for Wolves star admired by Spurs & Liverpool

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle United have ‘explored the terms’ of a deal for Wolves defender Max Kilman.

The former CBS reporter claims the 26-year-old is ‘one to watch’ and the latest name under consideration as we search for a new centre-back. He reveals that Spurs and Liverpool have also shown interest in the Englishman, adding that Napoli had a bid in the region of £30m rejected last month.

Kilman is left-footed but has played a lot of his football on the right side of Wolves’ defence, also playing 34 times at left-back over his career.

We’ve been credited with interest in Palace’s Joachim Andersen, RB Salzburg’s Oumar Solet and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo in recent weeks, but this is a new link in our ongoing centre-back search.

Speaking as a guest on the Loaded Mag Youtube channel, here’s what Jacob’s had to say:

“To throw a new name in the mix, Max Kilman is one to watch in terms of a centre-back option and Newcastle have explored the terms of that deal.

“He’s a ball playing defender. Didn’t have the best season for Wolves last year, but the season before that he was outstanding.

“Kilman has already been the subject of an approach from Napoli, I think for around £30m and it was rejected.

“There’s also been a little bit of interest historically from Tottenham, but Ange Postecoglou is a bit worried about his pace. There’s been a little look at him by Liverpool, but last season may have put them off. West Ham had a look as well, but they’ve obviously moved for Harry Maguire.

“That is the type of name that could move late in the window and might be attracted to a project like Newcastle, even only as a depth player, as he’d get Champions League and would probably receive a wage increase as well.”

  1. Burn has a game plan here.
    Burn Kilman and Botman.
    Miggy, Gordon and Barnes.
It’s not necessarily about the best, but its definitely about the tallest and the fastest.
