Sean Longstaff has hailed Toon teenager Lewis Miley, revealing just how good the Geordie midfielder has looked behind the scenes.
From one local lad to another, Longstaff admits he couldn’t believe how good Miley was during our mid-season camp in Saudi Arabia last December. He was only 16 at the time, but clearly made a huge impression. “It was unbelievable how goo he was”, Longstaff said.
He speaks so highly of the youngster, believing Miley is “one of the best” players he’s ever seen emerge from the club’s academy. With Sean himself improving under Eddie Howe and Elliot Anderson impressing over pre-season, it’s great to see so many local lads breaking into our senior side.
When asked about Sandro Tonali’s arrival, Longstaff told The Mail that he’s actually “just as worried” about Miley! Here’s what he had to say:
“I’m just as worried about Lewis! Honestly, he is just unbelievable. He came with us to Saudi (in December) and I remember thinking he was 16 at the time, and it was unbelievable how good he was.
‘I texted him in the summer saying just make sure you come back fit and ready to go. He said, “I will do”, and I could wax lyrical about him all day.
“I just think Lew is one of the best I have seen from the academy in a long time. It is just a pity he’s in my position!’
Can’t offer any more words to describe Ashley, offering something he believed they could never achieve under his stewardship.
