Spurs accept €100m+ Harry Kane bid – Great news for Newcastle and Alan Shearer

Some big breaking news has emerged from The Athletic on Thursday morning, revealing that Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Spurs over a big-money move for Harry Kane.

This comes from David Ornstein, who reports that a bid in excess of €100m (£86.4m) was accepted by Spurs on Wednesday night, leaving the England international with a decision to make just a few days before the 2023/24 season kicks off.

It goes without saying, but this would be brilliant news for both Alan Shearer and Newcastle United.

Shearer remains the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscoring on 260, but it’s widely accepted that Kane – currently on 213 goals – would overtake his record should he stay in England for the next few years.

As for Newcastle, it could only be good news for us if our ‘big six’ rivals lose their star player just 48 hours before the new season kicks off. They finished behind us last season with their top scorer and talisman, so their task to get back in the top six would be made even tougher without a man that guarantees 30-40 goal involvements per season.
