Newcastle agree loan move for midfielder who impressed Eddie Howe over pre-season – Report

As revealed by the Daily Record, Newcastle have agreed to send youngster Jay Turner-Cooke on loan to Scottish side St Johnstone.

The 19-year-old scores in our pre-season win over Gateshead and featured in Summer Series games against Chelsea and Brighton, with Howe praising his progress alongside fellow talents Lewis Miley, Alex Murphy and Ben Parkinson.

The attacking midfielder has enjoyed a good start to this year’s campaign after training with the first-team over the summer and followed that with a brace in the Under-21s’ Premier League 2 opener against Southampton.

Last season, the midfielder spent the season on loan at Tranmere in League Two, but he will now be looking to step his game north of the border.

Despite experiencing two disappointing loan spells in Scotland with Garang Kuol (Hearts) and Matty Longstaff (Aberdeen) both struggling for game time, the club are again returning to help develop a young talent.

Hopefully he shows what he can do in the Scottish Premiership and gets plenty of minutes!
