Earlier this week, The Sun’s Alan Nixon revealed that Newcastle United scouts had been doing some ‘last minute checks’ on PSV star Johan Bakayoko.
He reported that we had club officials watching him in Eindhoven’s 2-2 draw at Rangers last week, stating that we were also set to watch the 20-year-old on Wednesday; where PSV beat the Gers 5-1 to secure their place in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
It seemed our interest was with future windows in mind, but Brentford may have stolen a march. Both Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports report that the Bees have launched a €40m bid for the exciting winger, offering €35m plus a further €5m in add-ons.
It remains to be seen if the Belgian international will sign for the West London club before todays 11pm deadline, but he would be their club-record signing if a deal goes go through. One to watch on deadline day?
