Shock loan move close as Toon talent looks set to join Yankuba Minteh at Feyenoord

Newcastle United youngster Lucas De Bolle is thought to be closing in on a surprise move to Feyenoord.

This comes from reports in Holland and NewcastleWorld, who claim that the two clubs are negotiating the final details of a move that’s likely to be a loan deal.

Should the deal go through, the 20-year-old would join summer signing Yankuba Minteh in Rotterdam, with the Gambian winger starting their 6-1 win over Almere on Sunday following a season-long loan move to the Eredivisie giants.

De Bolle has had spells training with our first-team over the past few seasons, with Eddie Howe having ‘nothing but praise’ for the U21 talent, but it would be a slightly peculiar move. After all, he spent last season in the Scottish second tier with Hamilton and is yet to make a single senior appearance for Newcastle.

The versatile midfielder is actually out of contract next summer, as things stand, so it’ll be interesting to see if we renew his deal before his proposed loan move to Feyenoord goes through.

Feyenoord are in pot one of tonight’s Champions League draw, so could yet face Newcastle (pot four) in the group stages.
