According reports on Friday morning, Newcastle United look set to sign Norwegian talent Travis Hernes.
This comes from the Shropshire Star and talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, who reveal that we’ve agreed a deal to sign the highly-rated Shrewsbury midfielder.
The 17-year-old is thought to be on Tyneside and is expected to join our academy after impressing in the EFL. He became the youngest player to feature in League One last month and started their Carabao Cup defeat to Leeds earlier this week.
No fee has been mentioned at this stage, but it’s thought to be a favourable deal for Shrewsbury which includes a 20% sell-on clause.
After a flurry of signings at U16 level and the likes of AC Milan’s Cathal Heffernan joining our U21s, it’s good to see the club investing in youth talent once again, with Dan Ashworth intent on building our academy this summer.
