Toon target rejects €40m move – One to watch in 2024 after two visits from Newcastle scouts?

After Newcastle officials travelled to watch Belgian sensation Johan Bakayoko on Wednesday night, Fabrizio Romano revealed last night that Brentford had launched a €40m bid for the PSV star.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon confirmed that Toon scouts were doing some ‘last minute checks’ on the winger, watching him in both legs of Eindhoven’s Champions League decider against Rangers following ‘genuine’ interest.

As of last night, Brentford were believed to be closing in on a deal for the exciting 20-year-old, but it’s now emerged that the Eredivisie talent has REJECTED a move to West London.

As revealed by Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri and now Fabrizio Romano, the attacker has decided to stay put for the time being in order to play Champions League football, with PSV grouped alongside Arsenal, Sevilla and RC Lens.

Given Newcastle scouts have watched the winger not once but twice over the past 10 days, he could be one to watch over the next two transfer windows; especially when a new right winger could be high on our agenda in 2024. Bad news for Brentford, good news for Newcastle?
