Eddie Howe weighing up January bid for out-of-contract Bournemouth star – Report

According to 90min, Newcastle are considering a January move Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.

Eddie Howe brought Kelly to the South Coast from Bristol City back in 2019 and knows the player well. It’s not the first time we’ve been linked with a move and his ability to play at centre-back or at left-back – much like Dan Burn – will appeal.

The 6ft 3′ defender has less than 12 months on his current contract and doesn’t seem to be engaging in talks with the club over a renewal.

This has sparked interest over his future, with Tottenham having a £20m bid rejected by the Cherries on deadline day. Spurs are expected to go back in with an improved offer in January, but are expected to face competition from both Newcastle and Liverpool.

There is a significant lack of depth at the centre of our defence – an issue we must address in January – but his ability to play at left-back, Premier League experience, previous with Howe and contract situation sees him tick several boxes.
