Jonjo Shelvey agrees surprise move after Nottingham Forest nightmare – The Telegraph

As reported by The Telegraph, former Mag Jonjo Shelvey is closing in on a loan move to Turkish side Rizespor after a disappointing spell at Nottingham Forest.

The 31-year-old only joined Steve Cooper’s team back in January, but he has already fallen out with the head coach and is looking for a way out after just eight appearances.

It was revealed that the former England international was frustrated at being dropped to the bench for Forest’s trip to Anfield last season, causing Cooper to freeze him out of the squad.

Now, after just six months in the East Midlands, Shelvey and teammate Emmanuel Dennis look set for a loan spells to the Super Lig for the remainder of the season.

Though he had options to stay in England with Burnley, Sheffield United and Leeds all interested, the midfielder is heading out for a fresh start in Europe.

  1. For “frustrated” read “acted like an arrogant entitled d*ck”. Aside from laying on an assist for Villa to score in an earlier game he’d done nothing of note in a Forest shirt. Funny how form picked up once he was dropped. Good riddance.
