Bruno Guimaraes release clause revealed as Fabrizio Romano confirms new deal

The news we’ve all been waiting for has finally been confirmed, as Bruno Guimaraes has now agreed a new deal at Newcastle United.

This comes from a Fabrizio Romano exclusive, who reports that his extension will run until June 2028; keeping him contracted to the club for another five years.

However, it’s believed a release clause ‘in the region of £100m’ has been added into the deal.

Romano states that Bruno was ‘so happy to extend as he loves the club’, but there’ll be some concerns over the clause added into his new deal. Is it enough? Why is it there?

It’s big money, yet makes you wonder if he or his camp have one eye on a future move should a European giant come along in future transfer windows?

Here’s what Romano’s had to say in his Saturday morning update:

  1. Strange!
Enzo Fernandes, Moises Caicaedo cost more!!!

How can you love a club but have a realise clause????

  2. This is a strange one.
My version of 2 + 2 =5 goes like this.
We were going to offer Bruno a bit more and a longer contract, and all was going well until we brought in Tonali on a Schar and a Wilson more than Bruno gets, so the Brazilian marches into Eddies office, demanding parity.
Quite rightly the bosses said “can’t be done” – if we give in to one, they’d all be at it!
So we stick at around 160K a week and the toys are out the pram again – Bruno’s not having it, insisting that he could move to Real or Liverpool and earn a lot more.
So we remind Bruno that he’s contracted to 2026. We don’t HAVE to give him a pay rise and we don’t HAVE to let him go. Having the richest owners in the world means we would be happy to let him train with the kids, on the same salary, until his contract runs out.
Wor Mandy steps in and says “If you really want to go we’ll let you, but only if you commit to another 18 months here on 160K”
Extending his contract and inserting a release clause makes no sense, unless it doesn’t kick in for 18 months or more.

Come on then – rip this theory to bits.
