New St James’ Park plans now confirmed as opening date for fan zone goes public

Newcastle have announced that the planning application for the proposed fan zone next to St James’ Park has been approved by the local authorities.

The fan zone, called ‘St James’ STACK, powered by SELA’, is expected to be opened in the spring of 2024 with an initial lifespan of three years.

It will be constructed using repurposed shipping containers and will include food, drink and entertainment options to be used on match days and during the week.

Sela, who currently sponsor the front of our strips, are supporting the construction of the fan zone which will be built around the Strawberry Place site behind the Gallowgate.

The club are hopeful that the new zone will help to create a number of ‘economic and employment opportunities’ and attract a lot more business to the area.
