Saudi trio eyeing surprise move for Newcastle United star – TalkSPORT

According to talkSPORT, three Saudi sides are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson – but it remains to be seen if he’ll entertain a move to the Middle East.

They report that one of those clubs is Al Qadsiah; the Aramco-backed side who are currently managed by former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler.

They are the current favourites for promotion to the Saudi Pro League an are expected to spend huge money next summer should they join PIF-owned clubs such as Al Hilal, Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Ittihad in the top flight.

Money talks, but I’d be surprised if Wilson swapped the number nine shirt at St James’ Park for a move to Saudi Arabia any time soon. He was our top scorer last season on 18 goals, has started this campaign superbly and recently signed a new one-year extension, keeping him contracted to the club until 2025.

If a big offer came in next summer and we used the funds to sign another forward to compete alongside Alexander Isak, it may seem like good business, with Wilson approaching his 32nd birthday.

For now, though, he remains a key player and is aging like a fine wine. Hopefully nothing comes of it and he doesn’t join Allan Saint-Maximin in Saudi.
