Newcastle are ‘working on a deal’ for Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Fichajes.
The French international was linked with a move to St James’ Park over the summer, where Fabrizio Romano revealed that Newcastle and Man Utd scouts were watching the 23-year-old.
Since then, he’s continued to shine in Ligue 1 and is expected to seal a big move in 2024. The report states that he’s considered an ‘ideal’ partner for Sven Botman by Newcastle’s recruitment team, with Todibi a ball-playing defender who’d add some much-needed pace to our back line.
Todibo still has another four years left on his current deal at Nice, but it’s thought Newcastle are keen to negotiate a deal as we search for a right-sided centre-back able to compete with – and eventually replace – Fabian Schar.
It’s believed that the next few weeks will be ‘key’ in the negotiations, suggesting we’re planning a January move for the former Barcelona talent.

Jim Radcliffe owns Nice & is just about to buy 25% of Man Utd.
I can’t see him selling NUFC anyone before MUFC are offered first.
