NUFC star drops comeback hint and Crystal Palace suffer injury blow ahead of Toon trip

Sven Botman has hinted at a return to action this weekend, saying he’s “coming back stronger than ever” in a weekend post on social media.

The Dutchman has missed our last four games with a knee injury, sitting out league games against Burnley and West Ham, our Champions League win over PSG and Carabao Cup victory over Man City.

We’ve coped brilliantly in his absence, with Jamaal Lascelles stepping up admirably, but it would be a huge boost to have the big man back for Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace. With his Sunday night post in mind, it sounds like he’s closing in on a return.

One key player who won’t feature this weekend is Crystal Palace’s Ebere Eze. The England international won’t play again this month following a serious hamstring injury.

Michael Olise (hamstring) will also be missing for the Eagles, while tough-tackling midfielders Cheick Doucouré and Jefferson Lerma will also face fitness tests after missing their last game before the international break.
