Howe responds to Arteta rant, double injury blow & hails heroes from Arsenal win – Video

Eddie Howe refused to comment on Mikel Arteta’s fiery outburst after last night’s game, but criticsed the number of yellow card handed out, felt Kai Havertz should’ve seen red and shared injury updates on Dan Burn and Jacob Murphy.

Anthony Gordon’s goal was given after a series of VAR checks, parking Arteta to label it a ‘disgrace’. But, Howe believes the Spaniard ‘has seen something I haven’t’ after reflecting on the incident (watch Howe’s full post-match press conference below).

Despite a hugely positive result, Newcastle added more names to the injury list with Burn ‘in a lot of pain’ after landing awkwardly on his back and Murphy in ‘need of an operation’ after suffering a recurrence of that shoulder problem.

The boss also heaped praise on Jamaal Lascelles’s heroic display, Anthony Gordon’s versatility throughout the game and Joelinton’s dominant display, adding that we wouldn’t have won without the supporters; who ‘galvanized’ the team and helped us over the line.

While he did not refer to it as a ‘statement win’, the 45-year-old was happy to see each and every player ‘very committed’ and ‘respond well’ to the rotation of the team following our 3-0 victory over Man United in midweek.
