The results Newcastle need to qualify from Group F after Milan beat PSG & Dortmund defeat

The bookies believe Newcastle (5/2) are now the club least likely to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages from Group F following last night’s results.

After we lost 2-0 to Dortmund, AC Milan beat PSG 2-1 at the San Siro to blow the group wide open once again. While Milan’s result may reduce our chances of securing a third-place finish – sending us into the Europa League – it drags PSG back into trouble and gives us more chance of qualifying.

  • If we beat PSG (A) and AC Milan (H) we will qualify.
  • If we beat PSG and draw with Milan (taking us to eight points) we’d need Dortmund to avoid defeat in their remaining two games.
  • If we drew at PSG and beat Milan, the Italians could not finish above us (securing at least Europa League football), but Dortmund would only need a point to finish above Newcastle, while PSG would need to beat Dortmund in their final game to finish above us and qualify.

Here’s Sky Bet’s latest odds on qualification for the last 16 from Group  F, followed by the remaining fixtures for all four teams and the latest standings:

  1. PSG – 1/3 (1.33)
  2. B Dortmund – 4/9 (1.44)
  3. AC Milan – 6/4 (2.50)
  4. Newcastle – 5/2 (3.50)
