According to Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte, Newcastle have approached Real Betis over the signing of teenage sensation Assane Diao; who currently has a €30m release clause in his contract.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool have also shown interest in the 18-year-old winger, who can play down either flank and is enjoying an impressive breakthrough season in Spain.
Diao has played just 14 senior games for the La Liga side but he has netted six times in total, with a couple of them coming in the Europa League and Copa Del Rey. He stands 6ft tall and has also been capped twice by Spain’s U21 side.
It’s understood that ourselves, Chelsea and Liverpool have all approached Betis on the availability of the attacker, who only extended his contract until 2027 in July.
However, the Spanish side now want to renew that deal again to up the release clause from €30m to €40m as more clubs explore the possibility of signing the Spanish youth international.
