Must-watch Eddie Howe press conference: Injuries, new appointment, Neves, Minteh & two-year message

Eddie Howe’s press conference ahead of our trip to Bournemouth was full of talking points, with the boss discussing everything from injuries to Ruben Neves, Yankuba Minteh, the ‘sad’ reaction to our win over Arsenal and ticketing situation ahead of our trip to PSG.

The boss also commented on the incoming arrival of Marcel Bout, who looks set to take over as our head of global scouting at youth level, saying it won’t impact ‘first-team recruitment’ but is a ‘welcome addition’ to the club.

Howe gave a positive injury update on Harvey Barnes and revealed the latest on Callum Wilson (hamstring), Alexander Isak (groin) and Sven Botman (knee), discussing our unprecedented injury and suspension crisis, his return to former club Bournemouth and how we’ll cope without Bruno on Saturday.

The boss also commented on the upcoming Premier League vote on related-party loan deals and commercial deals, hinted at long-term interest in Ruben Neves and refused to rule out a January recall for Yankuba Minteh after his superb form at Feyenoord.

Watch his press conference in full below, which also features his message of thanks on his two-year anniversary with the club:

  1. After years and years of avoiding watching clowns representing nufc at press conferences, I love watching Howe’s conferences. Now a fixed part of my weekend with my Friday elevensies

Couple of things I picked out from today
Howe was very careful to separate out his direct involvement in youth signings from first team signings which is something I hadn’t picked up on previously. Some very clear roles defined at nufc it seems
Howe was very specific that neves was a player he liked ‘ while at wolves’. That’s a direct quote. You have to work hard to interpret his conferences but I’m now fully convinced nufc dont intend to sign neves. So no doubt he’ll be in black n white soon .. lol

He’s a master at controlling a conversation. Approx 6 questions trying to draw him out on the upcoming vote and he politely deflected each.
