According to Craig Hope at The Mail, Premier League clubs have called for ANOTHER vote that promises to limit Newcastle United; this time over related-party commercial deals.
It’s already common knowledge that clubs will vote to block related-party loan deals on 21st November – a blatant bid to stop us from signing Ruben Neves on loan from PIF-owned Al-Hilal – but it’s believed that the same meeting will feature a separate vote that attempts to scupper our commercial growth too.
It’s seen as another move to ‘restrict Saudi-owned Newcastle’, with Premier League clubs demanding that tougher rules are brought forward to stop our current owners striking lucrative partnerships with other Saudi companies.
The laughable thing is, we have already played by the book in agreeing a £25m deal with Saudi company Sela – which is considerably less than the ‘big six’ earn from their front-of-shirt sponsors – yet our rivals want even more to be done to hamper our progress, on and off the pitch.
If 14 or more of the 20 top flight clubs vote in favour of this latest proposal, we would have to prove ‘multiple offers of the same value’ before agreeing to any related-party commercial deal; a tedious exercise that is considered ‘impractical and a waste of time.’
It is currently ‘expected that the 14 clubs needed will be in favour of the change’, but Newcastle could contest the move, as expert believe it ‘raises questions over the Premier League restricting normal business practices’ and threatens to violate Competition law.
