Kieran Trippier speaks out after clashing with NUFC fan – Puts things into perspective…

Kieran Trippier has responded to his heated exchange with a frustrated supporter after last night’s 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, insisting ‘there’s no need to panic’ and apologising for our poor performance.

It was not a typical Newcastle display under Eddie Howe – there was a lack of energy and pressing, largely due to the number of games we’ve had to play with such a stretched squad.

But Trippier hit the nail on the head in an interview with Sky Sports, insisting the players are ‘giving everything’ and trying their best to cope.

He also reminded supporters that, despite our injury/suspension issues, we remain in a strong position in the Premier League, are into the quarter-finals of the cup and still in the Champions League; putting things into perspective for those feeling like our season has fell apart! Watch what he had to say below:

“The fans are emotional, of course they are, they’ve travelled a long way and spend a lot of money.

“I’ve just been having a chat with one of them just to say that we are giving everything, there’s no need to panic.

“We’re still in a good position in the league, still in the Champions League, Carabao Cup quarter final. Ok we got beat, we apologise, but the most important thing is that the lads are giving everything.”

It proved to be one game too many, but hopefully the international break can give our key players some time to rest, recover and return ahead of our clash with Chelsea in two weeks time.
