Newcastle star leaves international camp due to personal reasons

Kieran Trippier has left the England squad due to personal reasons, meaning he will miss Monday’s game against North Macedonia and will now return to Newcastle.

Trippier had played the full 90 minutes against Malta on Friday evening in a 2-0 win, but will have no part in the final qualifying game for Euro 2024.

The defender has had a difficult few weeks given the amount of games he’s played and number of injuries we’ve picked up, culminating in a few below par displays and a disappointing defeat in our most recent fixture away to Bournemouth.

Hopefully this matter is nothing too serious and the 33-year-old will return home fit and ready to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The last thing Eddie Howe will want now is another absence, especially someone of Trippier’s quality, but of course his personal life must come first and Toon supporters will wish him all the best
