Newcastle linked with another Saudi Pro League star after failed £25m move

According to 90min, Newcastle are weighing up a move for former Celtic star Jota just months after he joined Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.

The Portuguese international is currently unhappy at his new club due to being unregistered for domestic games and has received interest from Newcastle and Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglu will be keen to link up with his ex-player and their history in Glasgow could be an important factor in the £25-man’s decision regarding his next move.

Newcastle, however, are also on the lookout for a versatile attacker in the January window and are believed to be weighing up a move for the 24-year-old, who bagged 15 goals and 12 assists for Celtic last season.

Jota can play down either flank and could come in handy, with Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes and Miguel Almiron all struggling with injuries. The related-party ban set to be introduced in January would impact our ability to sign certain Saudi Pro League stars on loan, but permanent deals are possible if the fee represents fair market value.
