It looks like PSG could be without two key players for our crucial Champions League clash at the Parc de Princes next Tuesday.
It’s emerged that captain Marquinhos has picked up a hamstring injury during Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to Argentina in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with the centre-back telling L’Équipe that he’s likely to miss their Ligue 1 clash with Monaco on Friday after medical tests.
Midfield sensation Warren Zaïre–Emery has already been ruled out of next week’s game after suffering an injury on his France debut earlier this week – a boost for Newcastle given he was their standout player the last time we met in our 4-1 win at St James’ Park.
Marquinhos told L’Equipe he’s hoping to be back “as soon as possible”, but hamstring issues rarely sort themselves out quickly, leaving him a doubt for next Tuesday’s game. Elsewhere, Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes, Sergio Rico, Marco Ascensio and Keylor Navas also look set to miss out.
As a result, Portuguese international Danilo Pereira could fill in for the PSG skipper, with Fabian Ruiz likely to replace Zaire-Emery in midfield.
