Newcastle winger emerges as January target for Premier League duo – Report

Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are both showing interest in Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy ahead of the January window, according to Football Insider

Though he is currently out of action with a shoulder injury, the report claims that Forest and Palace have enquired about his price tag and availability in the New Year.

Murphy isn’t the star player or the jewel in the crown of this Newcastle team, but he is one of the hardest workers and rarely lets us down whenever called upon.

Eddie Howe knows he can trust the 28-year-old and has put a lot of faith in him this season. He started in our Champions League opener at AC Milan and helped us to a 1-0 cup win over Man City earlier in the season, also bagging one goal and two assists in a 4-0 victory of Palace last month.

It’s unlikely that Murphy will be anything more than a squad player on Tyneside, but he is someone who is enjoying the ride and is a great character to have within the group.

Given the lack of depth down the right wing, it feels unlikely that Howe would consider letting the boyhood Newcastle fan go unless he pushed for a move away for regular starts.
