Defender returns to Tyneside with hamstring injury – Another loan move on the cards?

Newcastle defender Harrison Ashby is back in the North East after picking up an injury while out on loan at Swansea.

According to The Chronicle, it’s unclear if we’ll recall him from his loan spell in Wales and find a new move in January or send him back to Swansea following treatment.

Ashby has made 11 appearances so far for the Championship squad, starting just four of their last 12 league games before suffering a hamstring injury.

The former West Ham talent only signed for Newcastle in January with the hopes that he could develop into a potential replacement for Kieran Trippier, but he has a long way to go when you consider the recent form of Tino Livramento

Here’s what Swans boss Michael Duff has had to say on his injury, confirming his return to Newcastle and talks between the two clubs:

“I don’t know 100 per cent the diagnosis on it, but the two clubs are now talking. He’s gone back to Newcastle for the time being.

“He’s their player, so they want to investigate a bit more into what it actually is. Ultimately, from my point of view, he’s not available for the next two or three weeks. Until they do this investigation we’re not quite sure where it’s at.”
