According to The Independent, Dan Ashworth is currently ‘reluctant’ to join Manchester United due to the extent of his role at Newcastle Unite.
The piece adds that the Red Devils would have to come in with a ‘very high’ offer and ‘well-defined terms’ of his role to tempt him, as he has ‘currently said no’ to the prospect of leaving his position on Tyneside.
Miguel Delaney reports that INEOS and Sir Dave Brailsford are set to oversee an eight-week audit at Old Trafford, giving them time to assess key appointments needed and the football structure they’ll decide upon.
It’s believed Monaco’s Paul Mitchell is a serious contender along with former Liverpool official Julian Ward. Either way, it seems Ashworth won’t be going anytime soon and, as things stand, is ready to reject Man Utd.
Hopefully their new minority stakeholders look elsewhere once their eight-week audit is complete, as we could do without losing our director of football so early into this new project at Newcastle United.
INEOS expect audit of United to take eight weeks
– Ashworth has currently said no, and Edwards reluctant to get back into club game
– no major decisions while ongoing, including on manager
– DOF could be split into director of recruitment and technicalhttps://t.co/l685NzaNqN

I don’t think we should overlook just how important Ashworth is to NUFC and our building process.
Dan puts NUFC on the right path & is integral to solid foundations so what we end up with is sustainable.
That we got him in the first place was a massive coup, but if we can keep him from going to Man Utd will be a big indicator that the new owners are doing things right.
