Newcastle make move for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke – The Telegraph

Two weeks on from our exclusive, Newcastle’s interest in Dominc Solanke is now being reported on by The Telegraph.

They report that Newcastle United have been in touch with Bournemouth and enquired about the in-form striker. However, it’s believed the South Coast are determined to keep hold of their top scorer over the January transfer window.

As we revealed last month, Eddie Howe is a ‘long-term admirer’ of the 26-year-old, who joined the Cherries from Liverpool in a deal worth £19m five years ago.

Solanke has netted 13 goals in 22 appearances so far this season, with Erling Haaland and Mo Salah the only two players to outscore him in the Premier League across 2023/24.

He fits the profile we’re likely to target as a mobile centre-forward with a strong all-round game and Premier League experience, but he won’t cheap after a stunning run of form over the past few months.

  1. Tbh nowhere near as good as Isak or Wilson. He has come back and proven that he belongs in the Premier League after his early fail at Liverpool, but, is he really the calibre of player Newcastle need to take them to the top? He ticks the British checkbox I guess.
