More big news has emerged this lunchtime on potential outgoings at Newcastle, with Craig Hope revealing that AC Milan have now joined the race to sign Callum Wilson.
The Mail’s man in the North East reports that Milan are eager to sign the 31-year-old on a permanent deal before next week’s transfer deadline.
Newcastle rejected a loan bid from Atletico Madrid over the weekend and ‘insist they want to keep the striker.’ However, it’s believed a late sale would be considered if the Serie A giants came forward with a tempting offer.
Wilson turns 32 next month and has 18 months remaining on his current deal. Hope reports that Wilson would be ‘open’ to talks over a move to the San Siro should Newcastle accept an offer from the San Siro.
As we revealed in an NUFC Blog exclusive this morning, Newcastle have identified RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as a replacement for Wilson, although a move for the Slovenian is expected to be made this summer, not the final 10 days of the January window.
