St James’ Park friendly leaked as president announces end-of-season England clash

St James’ Park is set to host a friendly match on June 3rd between England and Bosnia as the Three Lions put the finishing touches on their Euro 2024 preparations.

In a Wednesday night post on Instagram, Bosnian FA president Vico Zeljkovic announced the match would be played in Newcastle.

“The first mutual meeting in the history of these two selections will be played on 3 June in Newcastle,” Zeljkovic said.

“This will be a great opportunity for the national team to compete with one of the main favourites to win the European Championship.”

It will be the first time England have played in Newcastle since a 2-0 win in World Cup Qualifying over Azerbaijan in 2005. Steven Gerrard and David Beckham scored.

It could mean a “home” game for Newcastle vice-captain Kieran Trippier who is favoured by England manager Gareth Southgate as a versatile full back. It may also give extra incentive to Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento who have both been linked with England call ups in recent months.

Will you go to watch the Three Lions at St James’ Park? Will football come home this summer?
