Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves has revealed that Newcastle United are still hoping a loan ‘might pop up’ as we head into deadline day.
He reports that Toon chiefs were still hoping, as of yesterday, that something could emerge in the final 24 hours of the window ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
Graves insists that it’ll be a loan or nothing, with temporary moves for a central midfielder the main focus. ‘It’s going to be tough’ and Eddie Howe didn’t seem remotely confident we’d be able to bring anyone in after Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa, but it seems we’re still trying.
Here’s what the Sky host has had to say this morning:
‘It’s going to be tough for #nufc BUT as of yesterday afternoon they were still hoping something might pop up. Only loans are being considered. Potentially with option/obligation. Central midfield priority.’

The cynic in me wonders if this is a final attempt to keep Newcastle fans tuned into Sky Sports News on deadline day, as our chances of bringing in a late signing seem so, so remote. But, you just never know!
