Newcastle set to launch summer bid for Brazilian after January enquiry – Report

According to reports in South America, Newcastle United are lining up a summer move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

GOAL Brazil state that Newcastle made an enquiry about his availability last month but didn’t submit a formal bid – likely due to our FFP issues this month. However, they add that an official offer is likely to arrive this summer when spending restrictions will be eased.

The report claims that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have also been in contact with the Serie A side, so we could face plenty of competition for the 24-year-old.

Atalanta are ‘preparing for bids’ in the summer and GOAL say the player himself will ‘listen to offers’ after an impressive season in Italy.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been linked with the Brazilian and it won’t be the last I’m sure, with the Italian press (and Mark Douglas at the i) revealing that head of recruitment Steve Nickson was in Bergamo last month to watch Ederson score in a 5-0 win over Frosinone.
